Over the past several months I have spoken to many of you. I’ve heard your complaints and concerns. Your input, support and encouragement helped me make the decision to run for Sheriff. From what I’m told things, have never been worse. Yes, there may be a handful of people in certain units or who have been or are seeking promotion that may be content. But it seems as though most of the organization is miserable.
What causes this?
Did Chris Blair use you as political pawns with statements that he’ll have to fire many of you if the commission doesn’t give him what he wants in budget? Chris Blair created a fearful atmosphere about your career and the needs of your family. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office employees have enough stress without worrying about losing their job due to political posturing and intimidation!
Perhaps it’s that Chris Blair told some of you that he wasn’t bringing back high ranking retirees, robbing you of opportunities to advance in your own career…..but he did, with topped out salaries and other benefits.
Perhaps it’s because you can get chewed out for making an arrest, because one of the specialty units was supposed to get the credit. Does it matter who gets the credit? It apparently does to Chris Blair.
Is it because you still cannot get time off from a stressful job?
In a Kerry Crawford led administration we will have a positive, uplifting culture where employees can look forward to coming to work again and take pride in their profession.
We will look for solutions to your problems and do our best to make sure your needs are met. I will encourage innovation and empowerment. Without the hard work and commitment of the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office the job will not get done properly. It’s imperative that you are happy in the workplace.
I can’t, and I won’t, promise you things that I cannot guarantee or control. I can promise you this; I, Kerry Crawford, will do the best I can to look out for your needs and the citizens of Marion County. I will lead with fairness and equity and promote a positive work environment.
